What are you -currently- selling...hype or your business?

I pose this question not as a hypothetical but as a real soul searching question.  You may be unaware of what your actions (or lack there of) are truly saying about your business. Remember, image, especially in the real estate market, is everything.  So with that in mind I pose the following for thought:

Just because the market is bad don't stop selling your brand.  Now, more than ever is when you need to be seen standing strong in what you know and what you sell.  Media can generate fear which can generate negative actions.  Don't allow bad press to interfere in your daily operations.  People are still buying and selling everyday, even in hard times.  They will look for those who are optimistic and will choose to spend their time, money and referrals with them.  Why?  Because people want to feel good.  If you tell them "times are tough" are you really sharing anything that they don't already know?  The challenge before you is to find out how to get past what we know and succeed anyway.

There's no denying we are in hard times and more than likely, you or someone you know has felt a direct impact from the down-turn of the market.  But just like anything else in life...if you fall down, get up, brush yourself off and get back in the race.  After all, it's not the fastest runner who always wins, it's the most consistent one.

Happy selling :-)

Tara~ You are so right about the consistency in real estate being so important.  Thanks for the reminder!  Vickie

Tara, your correct now is the time for Branding and maintaining your Brand. It is actually what I have been doing. In these times look for the bright spot. When the fog lifts where will you be.

Tara - I agree.  Consistency is the key.  A good attitude is also important.  Thanks for the reminder!  :)

Vickie- That's right...consistency is the key.  It's hard but it works!

Frank- That's my mantra...stay strong through these times and you'll be golden on the other side.

Debi- I have found that attitude is everything!!  It's amazing how your business will turn around when you -decide- to change your perspective :-)

I always try to be consistent... of course, having a little OCD helps.  But focus is tough.

Don't use youtube first thing. It's unprofessional. post it on housereel.com or any RE only site

Joseph- In regards to video, we couldn't agree more.  In the real estate industry, put your video on real estate related sites first. Having said that, you should post your video on as many sites as you can muster.  After all, eyes are everywhere and you never know where a buyer can pop up.  We tend to think of You Tube as "the lowest common denominator" when it comes to video.  The quality is poor and the color is washed out so be aware that your video may not look as good as it appears on your computer when you hit the upload button!  Great point.

Your quote "Just because the market is bad...". There is always a market and there are some super values out there. Don't propetuate what the media spews.  Keep promotion of your area and property going with better images, better videos, more SEO of your website and brand! There is always, always a market...who's driving it changes but regardless..Joe and Josephine Broker should be always, always busy work that market! I am amazed that our you tube site has over 63,000 views and we are only a small Maine town of 6700.  The media available to promote property on and our area on is amazing...you have the video..post it everywhere you can!

You are correct, Andrew.  There is always a market...some better than others and there is certainly no doubting that some are not doing very well.  But you reinforce exactly what I was trying to get across.  Don't let fear or media propaganda infiltrate your daily operations.  It's very easy to have a defeatist attitude when all you hear are negatives.  It's those who choose to focus on the positives that will weather the storm.

Thanks for your comment and congratulations on your You Tube site.  Now, more than ever is the time to market and market big!!  Your site is proof of that

;-)

No doubt, buyers are just to scared right now, only do they know the time is now to buy.

Make no doubt about it...fortunes will be made in the next few years by those who have the foresight to opportunity.  That was the purpose of my blog, to get real estate professionals to think a different, positive way.  Positive thought invokes positive works which creates positive actions!
