I so often hear, "I don't have time to blog", "I just don't get the importance of social networking", etc. So keeping these thoughts in mind, I pose the following food for thought on why I blog:
1.) There is no faster way to reach the masses
2.) I am able to send a concentrated and controlled message to who I want, when I want
3.) The message can be sent as many times, in as many different formats as I choose
4.) It's free
5.) I love sharing knowledge on my areas of expertise
6.) Sharing knowledge is just the right thing to do
7.) Helping others ALWAYS comes back to me two fold
8.) I am able to create a qualified network online that would take months to create in the "real world" environment by shaking hands
9.) I can do it in the comfort of my home
10.) No one can hear my child screaming in the background
11.) It is a creative outlet where I can pose questions and thoughts to colleagues
12.) I'm able to get instant feedback or input on suggestions or questions
13.) Results can often times be instantaneous
14.) The SEO results rock (especially when used correctly)
15.) I can launch a product/idea nationally with the click of a button
16.) I make new friends, contacts and potential clients
17.) It's always cool to look back at my "resume" of blogs and see how I've have progressed
18.) My online 'storefront' becomes bigger with every blog I post
19.) I get to see what your competition is doing
20.) Bottom line...I don't have time -not- to blog.
Would love to hear why you blog...

Tara,
You make many valid points and it all makes sense. I can see where have made this a part of your routine and it just seems to flow for you.
DW
Just have anyone go see the movie Julie and Julia and that will completely changer their perception on why blogging works. The movie would not have existed without blogging.
OK,, all right! I'll start again!
Thanks for pushing me back into it!
Amen amen amen amen! I have been so busy that I haven't blogged lately but I am back on it!! Thanks. :)
I blog for the points and the google juice.
the other reasons are all very good as well.

I blog because I can't not blog... Is that a good reason? If I quit, it would have to be cold turkey...
Blogging is addictive and I think it has been helping my business. People call and e-mail me directly and reference finding me on line.
Blogging is a great way to provide clients & future clients with the information they want/need. That's my #1 reason.
Tara,
I think you nailed them all. I think some people have yet to embrace it because they're intimidated by it.
DW- You hit the nail on the head...it has to be a part of your routine or just forget about it.
Tim- I don't think there's a better example out there...thanks!
John, Jared and Amanda- Don't hate me for the push ;-)
Patricia- I agree. The SEO results alone are reason enough to blog.
Lane- You're going to have to join a support group if you ever stop blogging!
Gene- Great points! Blogging really does increase your visibility online.
Steve- You reminded me of another point I left off that goes right in line with your #1 reason: I can promote my client's product as well (home tour, community profile, commercial, etc.) which is another service I'm offering.
Brian- I think you're right. A lot of people 'just don't get it' and instead of trying to delve in and learn they just hope it will all go away. Not happening any time soon!
I'm thinking of cutting back... I don't know if I WILL cut back, but I am thinking of it...
Even if you do, Lane...you'll still be way ahead of the pack!
